What would an IT networking event be without cool technology? The team at digitalBANG decided to show off some of the marketing tools they have developed, which utilizes technology that's readily available to you and me.

A few of our sponsors were moving through the crowd with their T-Mobile cell phones. One was the Nokia 3650 cell phone with a built in digital camera. Shortly after taking a photo during the event, they sent the photo to servers at digitalBANG for processing.

A computer at Club Clau with internet connection was hitting digitalBang's servers and projecting a presentation that rotated photos and sponsor logos.

Within minutes of taking the photo, it was transmitted to digitalBANG's servers, processed and added to the photo albumn, and the projection system was displaying it for everyone to enjoy.

Many thanks to the T-Mobile store in Newport for providing the phones for this event:

Editor's Note:
While widely available, we are still seeing the first generation of cell phones with digital cameras built in. The Nokia 3650 takes reasonable photos in good lighting, but as you can tell by some of the photos, it gets a little grainy if the lighting is low. (just look at the photos taken with a digial camera that had a flash and see the difference) The resolution is good for the web (640x480) but not something you'd want to print as a photo. The great thing about technology is it moves rapidly, so expect better camera resolution and flashes to hit phones coming to a store near you in the not-too-distant future.
