Case Studies: Tivix

The Challenge
Develop an online marketplace where buyers and distributors of television
programs can meet and do business, making the marketing, purchase, sale,
and delivery of television programs easier, faster, and less expensive.
The traditional business model brings buyers and sellers together at semi-annual
trade shows. Since some distributors represent as many as 3,000 titles,
it was impractical to market all their programs at a single trade show,
so buyers only saw a limited range of materials at the shows. Buyers would
typically get printed materials from distributors, sort through the materials,
and then contact the distributor to request a video. In an international
market, this process sometimes took weeks.
The Solution
digitalBANG developed a suite of server-side
applications that offer distributors the opportunity to market all of
their programs to a worldwide audience year-round. At Tivix.com, buyers
can browse distributors' entire libraries online. They can narrow their
search based on genre or by searching within a single distributor's library.
Buyers can then view an online video, gather general information, and
contact the distributor. Distributors can also post marketing materials
for each of their programs, making it possible for buyers to pick up marketing
materials for programs they have purchased. These materials include photos,
scripts, music cue sheets, and synopses. The software developed by digitalBANG
makes it possible for Tivix.com to manage all of the content through a
standard web browser. To date, Tivix.com has raised over twelve million
dollars in funding. Backed by top industry experts in television, film
and the Internet, Tivix.com has built its formidable lead through personal,
hands-on partnerships with distributors and buyers alike.
